Rick Gaylord, Retired - DeLand Police Department

 
     
   

Lieutenant Rick Gaylord is currently the Criminal Justice Instructor for Florida Technical College, DeLand Campus. He served with the DeLand Police Department from 1983 to 2004. He worked the majority of that time in various uniform patrol assignments and founded the DPD’s Bicycle Patrol Unit in 1990. He also served in the Motorcycle (Traffic) Unit, Professional Standards, and Criminal Investigations. Rick has taught Community Policing at the Daytona Beach Community College Criminal Justice Institute to both basic recruits and experienced police officers. He is also a certified Verbal Judo Instructor and has taught Police Bike Patrol, Management, and Traffic courses. Lt. Gaylord holds a Bachelor’s degree from Stetson University and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Central Florida.
