Lieutenant Hudak began his law enforcement
career in 1983 with the University of Miami Police Department. In 1988,
he joined the Coral Gables Police Department as a patrol officer. As a
detective, Lt. Hudak worked in the Street Crimes, Narcotics and Major
Crimes Units. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1999 and he is currently
in the Criminal Investigations Section. In that capacity, he leads the
Unit responsible for investigating burglaries, arsons, auto theft and
with his telecommunications background has just started the department’s
first Forensic Video Unit. Lt. Hudak has specialized training in many
areas including: hostage negotiation, advanced hostage negotiations, stalking
investigations, domestic violence, DEA Advanced School, crime scene investigations,
medical examiner death investigations and first line supervision. He was
most recently promoted to Lieutenant and Commander of the Internal Affairs
Unit in January of 2005.
Lt. Hudak has worked as a consultant with the Department of Justice in
the Early Identification and Intervention Systems throughout the country
and has been considered an expert witness on hostage situations, a subject
he has lectured on at the University of Miami for the last ten years.
He has held numerous executive positions in his professional organizations
including President of his Fraternal Order of Police and Vice President
of the Police Benevolent Association. Today, he serves on the Executive
Board of the Switchboard of Miami, the crisis intervention hotline. He
has also been the liaison/mentor for the University of Miami Athletic
Department for the last twelve years.
