"Since law enforcement agencies began partnering with citizens through community policing, we've seen significant drops in crime rates."
- US Attorney General, John Ashcroft

Sergeant Carlos Naranjo - Miami-Dade Police Department

After graduating from high school in 1981, Sergeant Naranjo began to work in the airline industry. He remained there for nearly two years, working his way up from loading baggage through reservations and ultimately to passenger service. When the industry was destabilized by regulation, he decided to become a police officer with the Miami-Dade Police Department after a ride-along with a friend.

During his over 18 years of service, he has been successful in a wide variety of assignments ranging from uniform patrol to administrative positions, and from specialized investigations to tactical teams. These assignments have given Sergeant Naranjo the opportunity to view law enforcement with a broad perspective, allowing him to develop unique insights to many aspects of the profession.
