Lieutenant John Newman - Tampa Police Department

John R. Newman joined the Tampa Police Department in 1985. Originally from New Jersey, he moved to Tampa and attended the University of South Florida. Lieutenant Newman has been working with Early Intervention systems since 1997. In 2000, the City of Tampa Police Department was awarded a “best practices” grant from the Department of Justice/ COPS office for its Early Intervention Program. Through this grant award Lieutenant John Newman provided technical assistance to over 75 law enforcement agencies from 25 different cities in the design and implementation of these critical employee intervention programs.
