| Chief David Romine began his law enforcement
career in 1971 in Dade County, Florida. After having risen through the
ranks from Police Officer to Deputy Chief, David retired from the South
Miami Police Department in 1998 in order to accept the position of Police
Chief in Winter Haven, Florida. He served in that capacity from 1998 until
2002.
In 2002, Chief Romine accepted the position of Police Chief in St. Pete
Beach, Florida where he currently serves. Chief Romine holds an Associate
in Arts Degree from Miami Dade Junior College and a Bachelor’s of
Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University.
Chief Romine graduated from the FBI National Academy, session 158 in 1989.
Chief Romine also graduated from the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development
Program in 1999.
Chief Romine is a Florida State Certified Police Instructor with a special
emphasis in Ethics and Professionalism. Chief Romine is the recipient
of numerous awards and commendations accumulated over his many years of
law enforcement service in the state of Florida. Chief Romine is a past
president of the Polk County Police Chief’s Association and a past
president of the Tampa Bay Chief’s of Police Association. Chief
Romine is a member of the International Association of Chief’s of
Police, the Florida Police Chief’s Association, the FBI National
Academy Associates Association, and the Tampa Bay Police Chief’s
Association.
