Alan Ziff

 
     
   

Alan Ziff has been an active emergency responder since 1983, performing in the capacities of firefighter, emergency medical technician, dispatcher, and various command levels including incident commander. Aside from fire and medical emergencies, Alan has also been trained and responds to special tactics and rescue operations involving hazardous materials emergency response, confined space rescue, above/below grade rescue, and swift water rescue.

Alan has had emergency response related articles published by Fire Chief Magazine; Industrial Fire Chief Magazine; Industrial Fire Journal; FIRESCUE Inc.; the International Society of Fire Service Instructors; the Fire Department Safety Officers Association; and in-house training journals and texts for various fire departments.

Alan has been a responding member of fire/rescue departments in Alaska, Arizona, and Pennsylvania, and is presently Chief of Training with the Deer Mountain Fire Protection District in Colorado - which is a 1,500 square mile territory incorporating four fire departments serving seven communities.

Alan's emergency response teaching career includes having been an instructor for career fire academies, industrial fire brigades, volunteer firefighter training programs, and private sector consultant companies. He has been and adjunct instructor at St. Petersburg College since 1998.
