This eight-hour interactive course will
provide participants with information on community policing and how it
can positively affect domestic violence situations. This course will identify
the purpose of and the processes involved in creating a coordinated community
response to domestic violence using partnership and problem-solving models.
Participants will learn how to work towards reducing domestic violence,
what services and interventions can be provided, how they can be provided
and the impact of those services and interventions.
Participants will be able to:
- Understand the purpose of a coordinated community response to domestic
violence
- Recognize the needs of victims in crisis situations
- Learn how to assemble domestic violence teams
- Explore cultural implications of intervening with victims of domestic
violence
- Learn techniques to increase the impact of domestic violence teams
- Learn team-building strategies
- Apply information and skills learned in class to domestic violence
scenarios
- Utilize the SARA Model in a variety of general problem-solving situations
